It is with deep sorrow that I inform you of the passing of our fellow SOBAN #4927, Dr. Elvis Tanyi, of the 1985 class, who died on May 18th after a brief illness. He was a member of SOBA Carolinas and a President’s Club member of SOBA America. He leaves behind his dear wife, Dr. Maggie Tanyi, and two children Ojong and Becky, his mother, extended family, friends, classmates, colleagues and fellow SOBANS to mourn him.
Funeral services have been scheduled for June 21st and 22nd in Raleigh, NC. May his soul rest in peace.
Service Details:
- Wake: Friday, June 21st
- Funeral and Burial: Saturday, June 22nd
As a registered member in good standing at the time of his death, SOBAN Tanyi is entitled to the SOBA America death benefit. Consequently, SOBA America will play a prominent role during the services.
I call on all SOBANS who can make it to come to Raleigh and honor our fallen member with our Final Farewell Protocol. This is the highest honor we can give to a fallen brother. Your presence, as a SOBAN, in solidarity, would be greatly appreciated.
Dress Code:
- Wake (Friday): All black attire, as requested by the family.
- Funeral (Saturday): Official SOBA America outfit.
During the funeral services on Saturday, we will perform a guard of honor twice:
- When the casket leaves the church into the hearse.
- When the hearse and convoy leave the premises to the burial ground.
Depending on the conditions at the burial site, we may perform the guard again. Together with the NLT members present, I will help coordinate this.
Please see the flyer for more details, including hotel information.
Let us come together to give Dr. Elvis Tanyi the respect and honor he deserves. I hope to see many of you there, standing in solidarity. May his gentle soul rest in peace with the Lord.
Sobanly,
Bertrand Fote
